Who We Are

Living Lutheran
Trinity Lutheran Church is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (also known as ELCA) a denomination of nearly 3.3 million people.
 
The ELCA has 65 synods across the United States. Our congregation is a part of the Indiana-Kentucky Synod (also known as I-K Synod).

The Rev. Yehiel Curry is the Presiding Bishop of the ELCA.
The Rev. Timothy Graham is the Bishop of the I-K Synod.

Our Beliefs
We believe that we are saved by grace apart from works through faith in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, as it is revealed in the Holy Scriptures.

  • We confess the Triune God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit)
  • We proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
  • We trust in the Gospel as the power of God for salvation of all who believe
  • We believe in the real presence of Jesus in the sacrament of Holy Communion, and we welcome all to Holy Communion
  • We embody forgiveness, dignity, compassion, and justice
  • We respond to God’s grace by loving the creation, especially the poor, hungry, lonely, and vulnerable
Faith Practices
The Affirmation of Baptism provides five faith practices to integrate into our daily life. Receive each as a gift from God:

  • live among God’s faithful people
  • hear the word of God and share in the Lord’s supper
  • proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed
  • serve all people following the example of Jesus
  • strive for justice and peace in all the earth

Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
      creator of heaven and earth. 

I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord,
     who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
     born of the virgin Mary, 
     suffered under Pontius Pilate, 
     was crucified, died, and was buried; 
     he descended to the dead.* 
     On the third day he rose again;

Lord's Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven,
